Pioneers of Diving in Sabah

Borneo Divers was founded in the early 1980s by a team of passionate ocean lovers driven by a single belief, that Sabah ‘s underwater world deserved to be explored, protected and shared with the world.
Before Sipadan was a household name among divers, we were there exploring its depths and charting its reefs.

The Sipadan Legacy

In 1989, world-famous oceanographer Jacques Cousteau visited Sipadan aboard The Calypso. After diving its crystal-clear waters, he proclaimed:

“I have seen other places like Sipadan — 45 years ago. Now we’ve found again an untouched piece of art.”

Those words placed Sipadan firmly on the world map and Borneo Divers was already there, guiding divers through its spectacular reefs and marine life.
As one of the island’s true pioneers, we are proud to have played a part in introducing Sipadan to the world and in shaping its legacy as one of the greatest dive sites on Earth.
