This FAQ page answers common questions for both Borneo Divers Mabul Resort and Mamutik Island Lodge.
Some information applies to both resorts, while other details are specific to each island and are clearly noted.

Sabah has a warm and humid tropical climate throughout the year, with temperatures ranging from approximately 23°C to 32°C.
The driest months are typically March and April, while heavier rainfall is more common between October and January. Guests should be prepared for warm conditions and occasional rain showers.
Malaysia follows Malaysian Standard Time (UTC+8).
Bahasa Malaysia and English are widely spoken. Mandarin and several Chinese dialects such as Hakka, Cantonese, Hokkien, and Teochew are also commonly spoken.
We accept Visa, Mastercard, and American Express.
Payments can also be made in US Dollars, British Pounds, and Euros.
Wi-Fi is available in the dining hall areas for guests.
As both resorts are located on islands, internet speed and stability may be limited compared to mainland locations.
Borneo Divers Mabul Resort is located on Mabul Island, Semporna, Sabah, Malaysia. Mabul Island lies in the Celebes Sea off the east coast of Sabah and is part of the Semporna district. The island is well known for its clear waters, rich marine life, and excellent diving and snorkeling opportunities.
Mamutik Island Lodge is located on Mamutik Island, within the Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park, just off Kota Kinabalu.
The island is easily accessible by boat and is ideal for nature escapes, snorkeling, and relaxed island stays.
Guests typically fly into Tawau Airport, followed by a land transfer to Semporna and a boat transfer to Mabul Island.
The journey begins with a flight into Kota Kinabalu International Airport, followed by a short land transfer to Shangri-La Tanjung Aru (STAR) Marina and a 10‑minute boat transfer to Mamutik Island.

Scheduled land and boat transfers are provided between Tawau Airport, Semporna Jetty, and Mabul Island.
Arrival
Tawau Airport to Semporna Jetty: 0830 hrs and 1030 hrs
Semporna Jetty to Mabul Resort: 1000 hrs and 1230 hrs
Departure
Mabul Resort to Semporna Jetty: 1100 hrs and 1330 hrs
Semporna Jetty to Tawau Airport: 1230 hrs and 1430 hrs
Private charter transfers can be arranged at an additional cost subject to availability and prior reservation.
Please note that no boat transfers operate after 1700 hrs. Transfer schedules are subject to change.
Boat transfers are arranged from STAR Marina (Shangri-La Tanjung Aru).
Boat Transfer Schedule
From STAR Marina to Mamutik Island: 14:30 hrs
From Mamutik Island to STAR Marina: 12:30 hrs
Access to Sipadan requires a daily permit issued by Sabah Parks. Permit allocation is limited and managed by the resort; approval is not guaranteed. Permits are non-transferable and non-refundable. Final access is subject to Sabah Parks’ approval and prevailing weather/sea conditions.
Only divers with a minimum of Advanced Open Water (AOW) certification or equivalent are allowed to dive at Sipadan. Each diver with a one-day permit is allowed a maximum of two boat dives per day.
Children under 12 years of age may visit Sipadan but must pay the full adult Sipadan package rate and comply with all standard permit and safety requirements. Child rates do not apply.

Cancellation charges are based on the guest’s scheduled arrival date:
More than 30 days before arrival: 30% of the total package price
29 to 15 days before arrival: 50% of the total package price
14 to 1 day before arrival: 75% of the total package price
No-show: 100% of the total package price
